A good tiffin is not just a list of dishes. It needs to suit your appetite, schedule, location, and budget. If you are comparing home kitchens, ask these questions before you commit.
What comes in one meal?
Ask what is included, how many chapatis come with it, and whether rice, dal, vegetables, papad, or pickle are part of the quoted price. A “thali” can mean different things at different kitchens. Check the portion as well as the dish names.
Is the menu fixed for your date?
Some home kitchens prepare dishes according to the day and the number of orders. A sample menu helps you understand their cooking style, but it is not a promise that every dish is available tomorrow. Ask what can actually be prepared for the date and meal you need.
What is the full cost, including getting it to you?
Check the meal price, portion, packaging, and any delivery charge together. If pickup works for you, ask where and when it can be arranged. If you need delivery, share your locality before ordering; “serves Andheri” does not necessarily mean every address or time is covered.
As a rough planning guide, publicly listed Mumbai menus show simple breakfast portions from about ₹60 and two-vegetable thalis around ₹150–₹200. These are examples from other businesses, not Suvarnfoods prices. Compare the actual contents and quantity before deciding.
How much notice is needed?
Check the kitchen’s order cutoff, especially for breakfast or a group. Do not assume a home-cooked meal can be prepared and delivered immediately. Confirm the date, time, quantity, and when your request becomes a confirmed order.
Do you need to discuss ingredients?
If you have an allergy or dietary requirement, explain it before paying. Ask what ingredients are used and whether the kitchen can accommodate your request. Do not assume any home kitchen is allergen-free.
